Born and raised on the East Coast, I have spent my fair share of time on the water. Ask my family, ask my friends, ask my colleagues – they all think I’m nuts. In reality, there likely isn’t another person they know that is as diversified and stoked to be on the water as myself. Being a waterman has always been my dream. Now with the addition of SUP’ing to my background of windsurfing, kiting, and surfing, I suppose on a local level I am living the dream about 90+ sessions a year. In Nova Scotia, that is both a rarity and a blessing.
For the past 12 years I have worked as a Recreation Therapist with youth who struggle with mental health and addictions. Lifestyle has always been a priority for me and in my career I have the fortune of helping youth escape the grip of addiction and mental health through recreation and leisure in any and all forms, from music and art to outdoor adventure and surfing. I am not only passionate about living an adventurous and engaged life, I am passionate about helping others realize their potential in this area as well and am actually in a position to create real change on a daily basis for those less fortunate than I.
Rumor has it that I have become the “local hardcore SUP guy” in Nova Scotia, ”a person of influence and leadership” in the development and integration of this new sport. My goal is to continue pushing my SUP skills and to maintain a positive reputation as both a local sup charger and respected person on and off the water.
